When is the best time to visit?
The best time to visit Everest Base Camp is during the pre-monsoon (spring) season from late February to May and the post-monsoon (autumn) season from late September to December. During these seasons, the weather is generally dry and stable, with clear skies and mild temperatures, making it ideal for trekking.
During the pre-monsoon season, the rhododendron forests are in full bloom, which adds to the beauty of the trek. The post-monsoon season is considered the peak season for trekking, with the clearest skies and the best visibility of the surrounding mountains, including Mount Everest.
However, it's important to note that these seasons can be crowded, and accommodations and permits can be difficult to obtain. If you prefer to avoid the crowds, the shoulder seasons of early spring (late February to early March) and late autumn (December) can also be good options, although the weather may be colder and less predictable.
The monsoon season from June to August is not recommended for trekking, as the heavy rains and cloud cover make it difficult to see the mountains and can make the trails muddy and slippery. The winter season from January to February can also be challenging due to the extreme cold and snowfall.
